We got some great progress yesterday after a trip to the doc for my son. The x-rays from yesterday didn't show any more bone loss from the ones 8 weeks ago which is good news! The femoral head is still contained inside the hip joint, which is one of their concerns that it eventually works its way out...but for now it APPEARS that the disease has progressed into the 2nd stage (of four). This is the strangest disease...you actually WANT it to move to the next stage.....rather than not.
Anyway, the bottome line is that the doctor allowed my son to resume walking WITHOUT crutches for the first time in over 4 months. It's just a test....if Kyle gets any pain back in the hip we have to get the weight back off.....or if we go back in 8 weeks and see more bone loss we have to get back on the crutches.....but at least for now he walked out of the office, and will be walking in school unassisted today.
He kept walking with a limp cause the leg hasn't had weight on it......so we worked all day yesterday on getting him to walk slowly so he doesn't limp. Hopefully we can work the limp out as he regains confidence on it.
Anyway, just thought I'd pass that info along...... Thanks for the many well-wishes, thoughts and prayers! You guys are great!

Wow Travis-seeing that photo of your kids took me back to when my 25 year old twins were that age. Man. Congrats on the good news about your son-I know that weighs heavy on your heart. And don`t worry about not being a "Bible thumper", in His own time, God makes Himself known. He`ll touch your heart, make His ways known to you, and carry you and your family through the hard times. Awesome news man.
