Text for the Day -- John 16:22-24

So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will
rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. On that day you will
ask nothing of me. Very truly, I tell you, if you ask anything of the
Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now you have not
asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your
joy may be complete.
Devotional

Jesus has given us a spiritual gift. He has given us the authority
and power of his name to be used in prayer. In John's Gospel we have
a clear picture of the outcomes of our relationship with Jesus. Out
of this relationship of love and obedience with Christ we have the
authority to play a priestly role of prayer intercession for the
church and world. Do not underestimate the power of Jesus' name in
your prayer ministry.

Gracious God, thank you for your call to prayer to me. Bless my
prayers for others. Amen
