Text for the Day -- Luke 24:44-48 ---------- Then he said to them, 'These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you-that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.' Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, 'Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'
Devotional ---------- Jesus reminds the disciples once more that the Messiah was to suffer, die and rise from the dead. The outcome of that messianic task was that it provided a basis on which the forgiveness of sins could be preached to all peoples. The disciples are now poised for the next great act of God. They had the message and the assignment. They were to wait to be "clothed with the power from on high," the Holy Spirit. Does the phrase "clothed with the power from on high" describe your experience with the Holy Spirit?
Prayer ----------------- Fill me and clothe me with your Spirit, gracious God. Amen
