Text for the Day -- Mark 3:7-12 ---------- Jesus departed with his disciples to the lake, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him; hearing all that he was doing, they came to him in great numbers from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and the region around Tyre and Sidon. He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him; for he had cured many, so that all who had diseases pressed upon him to touch him. Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and shouted, 'You are the Son of God!' But he sternly ordered them not to make him known.
Devotional ---------- Jesus healing ministry was like a magnet that drew people to him. His presence brought immediate blessing to their lives. What for many had been just a distant promise of what might come true some day, it became reality in Jesus. He taught and acted with authority giving clarity to their lives. He healed all their diseases and delivered those oppressed. All of this was focused through a central message that Jesus brought, that this was God's will and love. God desires to reclaim and bless his creation. We can have expectations for blessings.
Prayer ------------------ Gracious God, give me eyes to see in Jesus your love for me and others. Amen
