Text for the Day -- Mark 1:14-15 ---------- Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.’
Devotional ---------- Such a rich, full statement of what Jesus was up to as he began his public ministry - the Good News of God, fullness of time - the right "God-chosen" moment, the kingdom of God has come. Three strong statements of God's intent and initiative. What is Jesus looking for in response to this announcement? "Repent and believe in the Good News." The Good News is that God has already secured your salvation in Christ and the power of God's love for you. Jesus invites you to turn from "self" salvation to God's salvation. Believe in the love God has for you demonstrated in the gift of Jesus.
Prayer ------------------ Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Amen
