Text for the Day -- Psalm 9:1-2, 9-11, 19-20 ---------- I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion. Declare his deeds among the peoples.
Rise up, O LORD! Do not let mortals prevail; let the nations be judged before you. Put them in fear, O LORD; let the nations know that they are only human.
Devotional ---------- Our trust and hope for God's intervention, protection and assistance is based on God's actions in the past. When overwhelmed by our enemies or circumstances, the psalmist remembers God's goodness in the past. To recount the past encourages us in the present. The longer we live, the more acts of God we should be able to remember for encouragement, if we are noticing.
Prayer --------------- May your Holy Spirit prompt my noticing of your gracious and merciful acts toward me, O Lord. Amen
