Dear God listen to our prayer. As we go out in the field to hunt one of your great gifts please watch over us and guide us with care. Let us come home safely to our wonderful families. If you bless us with a chance to harvest one of your creatures give us the patience to wait for the shot, to use the skill you gave us to make the shot true, and use the knowledge passed down of tracking too. May the animal be treated with referience and used to the full. Thank you lord for all of these wondeerful things. May your blessing be with us in the fall and spring. AMEN I think this is a great prayer my friend and I came up with and may it treat you well. Hope you don't think it's corny Woody but I'm very proud of it. Woody do you think this is good. Can I post a reference to this fourm on the other fourms. T.J.

The things I ask for are very similar to what your prayer is. I start out by asking God to bless all the hunters out at that particular time. I ask him to provide them with a good hunt whether they get anything or not. Most importantly I pray to keep them safe and return them to their family at the end of the hunt. I NEVER ask God to provide me with a deer. I do ask that if I am lucky enough to get a shot that the shot is true and the animal dies quickly and is recovered. I have said a few prayers for recovery on tracking jobs too. Of course when I am successful I always thank God for the gift of His animal.

I do simular myself. Be it in a stand, or duck/goose hunting those are the times when I am so grateful to be alive and thinking of my family and friends. Nothing beats early mornings before daylight on one of those crisp clear mornings when the stars are blazing. I find myself just staring at the stars till they disappear. It keeps me going back for those early mornings.

No man made churches, shrine or synagogue can come anywhere close to the "church" in the deer woods.

I say a similar prayer except I pray that miss a deer completely if my concentration is not sufficient to make a perfect shot. I can't seem to immerse myself in the hunt until after I have said my prayer.

I've told countless people exactly that. Most are amazed that I would even consider such a thing. Maybe cause I don't go to church and don't preach to people. Regardless it is one of the tight bonds I have formed while hunting!

I believe a man needs a church life too, but it is a tough argument to say that you are not in God's house when you are sitting 20' up in a tree right at sunrise on a crisp fall morning.
I always say a quick prayer when I get in my truck before and after every hunt. Of course I usually thank Him again when I get in my tree as I take it all in...it's just too hard not too!

Well as much as we seem to deabte the MINOR issues it would seem that we agree on this one. There is a GOD and in the end every knee will bow and every tounge will confess that HE is Lord of all!.. If you do beleive this, just make sure you take the next step . John 3:16....... Best gift ever. And it's FREE!
Hunt on folks
Oh yea I forgot to mention we always pray before we hunt and afterwards as well.

I thank the Lord daily for allowing us to live in a God fearing, free country, and be able to continue spending time in the woods enjoying the all of flora and fauna that he has created for us to admire & partake. Darwin's followers can shove it where the sun does'nt shine, if it's not already there.

That's a great prayer! Thanks for sharing and thanks for bringing it back to the top. Hunting alsways seems to bring me back to reality and renew a closeness with Him. It's easy to forget about the miracles that happen everyday. Just watching the sunrise reminds me that God makes many miracles everyday.
Thanks Again, Robert
