A report of a severe accident, that is related to Urban Deer living among all of the people, houses, businesses and development in Hamilton County. While traveling home from shopping Sherri Spencer was traveling east on 161st when she couldn't avoid slamming into a deer that jumped right out in front of her. She sustained minor damages and here car, well that is a different story.
Related to the accident a near by resident got wind of the accident from his wife who had been out shopping and buying him a new set of duck decoys at Gander Mountain on Satruday evening saw the accident. As she is dearly in love with the fact that her husband is an avid hunter, as she just spent $200 buying him more decoys, she called Travis and let him know about the accident and the BIG BUCK.
It took no time for Travis and his buddy who were at home talking about hunting and telling lies to jump in the truck and go after the beast. It was reported that the men did a hard search for the beast but were able to make a clean recovery of the animal. At the scene the Hamilton County Sheriffs department issued him an URBAN BUCK TAG so that he could take the animal for whatever he wanted to with it.
The rest of the story, is the fact that we do have a deer problem with us crowding more and more of the areas everyday, where are the deer supposed to go? There have been reports of deer eating flowers that were planted in a ladies front yard earlier this year in Carmel.
AFTER READING THIS STORY AND BEING ON BSU'S DEER CONTEST TEAM I'M EXCITED TO HEAR THAT THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT ISSUED HIM A TRANSPORT/POCESSION TAG SO THAT WE COULD RACK UP SOME MORE POINTS. THAT IS A GOOD STORY, BUT IT DOES ILLUSTRATE 2 THINGS:
1. WE ARE TAKING AWAY DEER AND OTHER WILDLIFE'S HABITAT EVERYDAY AND NOW WE ARE LIVING WITH DEER BECAUSE THEY ARE ABLE TO ADAPT. HOWEVER, A LOT OF ANIMALS AREN'T ABLE TO ADAPT TO THE RESIDENTAL URBAN LIFESTYLE SO THEY DIE OFF. THIS IS SAD!
2. THERE ARE NICE DEER TO KILL IN URBAN AREAS, AND I'M GLAD TO SEE OUR TEAM WITH A TAG ON ANOTHER DEER!
