Anyone here ever do any wade fishing for smallmouth? I haven't done it since I was a kid, but I'm going to this weekend. I have 7 spots picked out on the Gazetteer! ;D

My favorite kind of fishing. Small creeks, tube jigs and small crank baits all in crawdad colors.

I will be doing some wading this long weekend myself. Live bait = Soft craws. Artificial = Helgramites, and the secret weapon, Cabin Creek Spiders!! 1/8 oz. jig. Best artificial I've used for smallies.

I'm a fan of Tiny Torpedos for smallies....... Nothing like a smallie bustin' topwater lures!

I got a chance to take my neighbor"s kid(14 years old) wading white river, fishing was slow at first, not a hit for a hour and a half,we just keep wading then we found them feeding in a semi- slow current,we caught several the next hour, "tanner" caught his biggest ever, a nice big fat 14 inch smallie, took a couple a pictures and the smile says" it all.he caught his biggest on a bumble bee by rebel,it looks like its" top water time for smallmouth.. turkey scout

Well my wading trip was somewhat of a success. I did manage to catch one 13" smallie, a channel and a carp. I had a blast doing it, and only fell twice. (just for you sportsmanslodge1!) ;D

Dad and I canoed Pine Creek yesterday. It was still up some from the rains last weekend, and a bit on the muddy side too. I'm sure most of it was wade-able, if you didn't mind being in 3' of water (or more) in some places.... We caught a few smallies, some sunfish and some channel cats. Nothing huge, but Dad did catch a good-sized channel that he brought home. He had a smallie and a channel in the basket earlier in the day but somehow they managed to get out, probably when a bunch of leaves opened the lid. Had it been lower and clearer we probably would have caught more. They were biting on everything we took: minnows, bee moth, crawlers and crickets. They were biting really well on crickets, but I'm not sure if that's cause it's what tasted good or if it's cause Dad unintentionally let about 2 dozen loose and that's all he was using for a while..... The fishing was good on Big Walnut last year too, both times we went. Don't know why anyone who has a canoe would want to deal with the Sugar Creek crowd on the weekends when there's many other options.....

I waded part of the White River on Saturday. Ended up catching two 10-11" smallies, and two 7-8" white bass. Had a great time until it became a canoe and kayak regata! Oh well, they pay taxes too.
