I had a customer stop by the store this evening with a walleye that measured 28 1/2" and weighed 8lbs. We've been getting a lot of reports this spring of large and numerous walleye catches coming from the river on both sides of the IN and OH state line. This is the first that I've actually witnessed. It was caught in the Decatur area. I will try to post a picture soon.

Sportsmans, Didn't you see Bucky's and my walleyes we caught out of the St. Mary's? I've heard from a couple different sources that they have been catching big walleyes on the Ohio side of the river. The first walleye I ever saw come out of that river, was in 1996, north of Decatur it was 18" long. A buddy of mine caught it catfishing at night. I've witnessed walleye, at least one, being caught every year since. Bring on the smallmouth!!! ;D

No, I didn't see your walleyes. I have heard of and even seen a few caught in the past but nothing like what has been reported this spring. It seems that quite a few of those fish have matured and are pressent in the river in good numbers now.
It's pretty exciting to know that a river that twenty-five years ago basically held catfish and carp now has a "supply" of large walleye in it. It will be interesting to see if the catches continue.
