Around 11:30pm last night I hooked into the first channel cat of the year! He tipped the scales at 6.2lbs and was a decent all around fish. I finished in the early morning with a 1.7 lb yellow bellied bulllhead and my buddy caught two more of them. Not a bad start considering that it isn't even hot yet. I always do the best catfishing in the warmest weather possible. Good fishing guys !

I've always caught my biggest and most channels right after ice off. I got desperate one February a few years ago, and caught a nice mess, that now, cats are the first species on my list each year.
