Pulled some interesting pics off my trail camera a few weeks ago. Take a look at this young deer....notice all the lumps on the body, as well as the ragged ears. Does anyone have any idea what causes this?? Seems to be eating fine, but not sure what would cause this...ticks? Wondering what ya'll thought.... notice in this last picture the lumps are on the other side of the body as well...

You need to get these pics up to the conservation officer forum. They may want to get this deer out of there.

Looks to be tumors to me.
If they are, they are supposedly not infectious and the meat would be edible.
But I don't think I would try it.
Jack has the right idea to be on the safe side.

There is a larve type parasite that cattle get that looks a lot like that. Might send it to a biologist and see what they have to say.

Update on this topic. Talked with my local biologist, and she thinks it is "cutaneous fibroma" or comonly called deer warts.
Does not pose any serious problems. No cases of human infection. She did however say that the warts can get infected and filled with bacteria, and spread to other deer through direct contact only. Therefore, if giving the chance this season she will be removed from the herd.
