The Boy Scouts is hold the Lincoln Encampment this May at the Lincoln Boyhood Home State Park. We got a DVD about it, and it says that when this happened in the 60's it shut down all the roads around the place.
If any body happened to have been a part of this in the past, let me know what to expect.
Any one arounf Evensville the first weekend in May, come by and see how crazy we are. The expectation is around 4000 scouts.
Greensburg will have representatives from Boy Scouts, Venture Crew, and Girl Scouts. Bot is my weekend going to be interesting. ;D

Next weekend is the event. I will be in the middle of it, so if anyone is close come by and let me know how it looks from the outside.
I have a group of 11 girls that have worked real hard to prepare for this event. I have every confidence that they will meet or exceed the accomplishments of the major portion of the boys that are there.

I just never realized being a part of History would absolutely wipe me out.
This was a fantastic weekend. The 11 girls I took survived extremely well for the small amount of outdoor experience they took with them. We covered close to 12 miles Saturday with getting to all the required events the ladies had to do to earn the Lincoln Trail Medallion. We experienced life in pioneer school, a Civil War re-enactment, Lincoln's Lawyer days, a Life Story from Abe himself as well as his parents, Pioneer nutrition, lye soap making, and tomahawk throwing. One of my women leaders went two for three, my smallest girl got one to stick, and the show off guy leader was the first for the day to go three for three.
We were well looked after during the day by the Buffalo Trace Council of BSA and the Raintree Council of GSUSA, as well as the protection we got from above with breaking up the severe line of storms that moved through the area over night Saturday.
There were three special guest that got to experience this event 50 years ago, and you could just here the buzz through the crowd as to the young people already making plans to be back during the next event 50 years from now. If I am lucky enough to still be around I too will return.
