When vacationing we have found that for about the same money and sometimes less we can rent a condo instead of a hotel/motel room. When we travel with another couple we get a two bedroom condo for a LOT less than two hotel/motel rooms. We always book through Vacation Rentals By Owners at.. www.vrbo.com/Check it out for your next vacation..

Woody, my Mom and Dad deal in timeshare rentals some. That is the only way to go if you are planning on renting a hotel. I list them on www.redweek.com, but I have heard of vrbo also. You should contact her next time you plan on going somewhere. She needs plenty of advance notice for most popular spots and prime times, but I usually rent one a month or so for her. I think they may be eaiser to get thru vrbo, but my Mom may be able to save you even more money Or anyone here for that matter.

We've been renting lake homes in northern Michigan for the past several years for summer vacations. We go through outfits on line like "greatrentals.com" and have really found some nice places at good prices. I like this over motels because cooking and eating together is a big part of the fun. Plus they usually have nice TV's w/ DVD's to watch movies at night, camp fire pits, some have had hot tubs, some came with pontoon boats, etc. Usually runs around $3K for a week for our gang of 10-15 parents and kids, which is a bargain.

Both good ideas..
GS,
I will check it out.
I bought into time shares 7 or 8 years ago, but I bought on the secondary market. A HUGE savings over buying from the resort itself.
We usually go for 3 or 4 weeks a year somewhere or another - plus I give a week or two to my kids...
