Firewood Restrictions Continue This SummerCheck your firewood source before you head to a state park, reservoir or state forest campground. Because of the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive insect that kills ash trees, we are maintaining strict rules limiting the types of firewood that can come into our campgrounds and the locations from which firewood can be brought. For more details, read our Firewood/Emerald Ash Borer FAQ sheet at www.dnr.in.gov/healthy and go to the Emerald Ash Borer link.

There was EAB discovered last year at Indiana Beach due to firewood getting moved...
I stay up-to-date as much as possible (mostly through one of my former professors). It's a nasty little bug, and, unfortunately, I don't see a lot of long-term hope.

I wonder about the people who sell firewood. Where did it come from and where is it going? I know of a few in Hamilton county who sell it.

If you live near a stave mill or palate builder they usually put out pallets of 2x4's and 1x4's that they can not use. These things make great fire wood. Just cut them into fourths, they stack easy, pack easily by being cut into 4ths and placed into plastic tubs. Figure 10 to 12 for each nites fire depending upon how long you want to sit around a fire.
