From the Evansville Courier and Press...
Speak up; canned hunting isn't right By STEVE FORD, Staff writer January 22, 2006
You'd think the Indiana legislature would pay attention to the majority of Hoosier sportsmen. But no.
There's a group within the Indiana house, which somehow calls itself the Natural Resources Committee, that wants to pass a bill - HB 1329 - supportive of high-fence hunting.
The majority of Indiana sportsmen have come out against canned hunting or shooting deer or other cervids like elk in enclosures for profit. Make that huge profits. There are legitimate health issues with chronic wasting disease in addition to the ethical question. It's just not hunting. Period.
A newly-former group called the Fair Chase Hunting Alliance (which includes the Indiana Wildlife Federation, Indiana Bow Hunters Association, Indiana Deer Hunters Association, Izaak Walton League, Pheasants Forever, Sportsman's Roundtable and the Indiana Chapter of the Wildlife Society) supports a proposed Indiana Department of Natural Resources rule that would ban all canned hunts.
Let your representative know how you feel. HB 1349 is money talking from a very small, but well-financed minority. Its special interest does not coincide with the interests of the majority of Hoosier sportsmen and must be stopped. Period.

Everyone should support ending canned hunting. The Natural Resource committee as well made it very clear that they did not support canned hunting either. However, along with the majority of sportsmen they do support hunting whether on preserves or elsewhere.

If by majority of sportmen you mean all of those with a vested financial interest in the slaughtering fences, then I'd have to agree with you Spike. However, if by sportsmen you mean those who believe in the ethics of hunting and fair chase, then I'm afraid that your comments are much like a Penthouse Forum letter. Fun to read but you know there's no way in Hades they could be true.
