It wasn't bad this morning at all till around 930 or 10am. There were times this morning where it was actually quiet in the woods.......no deer for me though. I wouldn't bother going this evening....bucks are gonna be hunkered down tight! It's more windy than yesterday!!! Good HARD freeze this morning which is awesome!!!!!!

travis,
I should have went this morning but didn't. Ive got two in the freezer already with gun and muzzleloader season yet to come so Im going to be a fair weather hunter for a while. Maybe tomorrow evening as the forecast calls for the wind to lay. If it does the deer should really move. h.h.

Wind is not a problem-my hunting buddy and I have been in the tree with sustained winds of 20 mph and gusts of 40.
Tough with a bow-not so much with a firearm.

I was covered up with bucks tonight...had four within shooting range at the same time. Two of them were pretty nice eight points. Nice night to be out...windy, but nice.

Did you see that 140 class again? Hoping to see pictures of that bad boy tonight from you... Nope...unfortunately, the guest of honor didn't show up to the buck party tonight. I did pass on the same 120" that I passed on last night though. Got a great look at him tonight. He stood by my stand and watched two other bucks have a little sparring match. I kept waiting on the 140" to show again, but.....

It was windy alright!!! I jumped some deer as I entered the creekbottom this morning. I could hear them blowing and crashing as they ran off. I heard them splashing as they crossed the creek. I really hate that sound!!! Just before 8:00AM, I had a small button buck come out of the swamp and start feeding on acorns. He was within 12 yards of my treestand many times. Talk about having a "Death Wish.." I could have put the "WHAMMY" on him any time. Still waiting on MR. BIG or another huge doe. As we were drinking a cup of coffee at the truck, we had 4 really nice sized does cross the road about 75 yards from where we were parked. They exited a standing cornfield and crossed into another standing cornfield. Will be back in the stand again this weekend... Hope the wind dies down... Bud

By the way, the deer (especially the bucks) are eating machines right now! Find a stand of oaks producing acorns right now, as all of the deer I have seen have been chowing down on the little buggers.

I've been seeing 13-16 deer every evening from one particular stand... even during these heavy winds... with the exception of one day (Whatever day it was) that the wind blew hard out of the North. That day my crew sat in stands where we expected a combined total of sightings around 35-40 and we saw 1. North wind wasn't detrimental to our scent on any stand, but that DAY the deer didn't move.
Otherwise the wind has had little affect on us. Big bucks are more cautious in the high winds and seem to take longer to enter fields. A 135" deer that should've come out around 6:15 slowed down his pace and arrived at 6:50 a couple times. Better have bright pins for a mature buck in these winds.
