What are the typical demo's on a group of hunters? think about it for a second. Then picture this. A hunter's ed class in a school that started out with 45, (some kids pulled for lack of homework in other classes), 37 kids taking the test today, 19 girls, 18 boys, a mix of hispanic and two African American. This is my most diverse class yet. Usually I get all boys and maybe MAYBE two -three girls. My town is typical of small towns - most white, a handful of hispanic, and very few Af-Amer. I am very glad to see the diversity. We often talk about getting kids invovled, but how often are minorities encouraged to participate? Scott

That truly is outstanding-just goes to show, kids are kids, and they LOVE the adventure.

Our last few youth hunts have had 1,0, and 5 girls involved. The girls are getting out there. Two of our last three hunts have started with inner city kids so we've had as many as 10 and 6 african-american kids out there. (each hunt was a group of 20 kids total).
