In my break from working tonight, I realized the 3rd best thing about hunting (the first two being hunting and the relationships of hunting whether family or friends). I decided to whip up a batch of venison tenderloins cooked in butter with caraway, dill and minced garlic. Once cooked to medium rare, topped with a raspberry chipotle sauce. You know, not once during any of the bites I took did I think of OBR, high-fenced hunting or anything. All I could think of was hoping the wind died down tomorrow to try and put an arrow in another one. Good luck this weekend guys!

I'm gnawing on a piece of jerky while reading this....
Doesn't go well with the coffee, but I can't stop eating the stuff!
Hey Hoyt!!! Sounds like your quite the chef.....we need to get our families together some time for a WILD gourmet meal!

I don't know if I'm quite the chef but I do like to try different things. My life really starts to slow down a bit after Nov. 4th so we'll have to get together. I do have to say that the raspberry chipotle goes well with just about any wild game.

Well, call me when things slow down! We still need to get to Adam's too for some video range time!

My goal for probably 80%+ of the meat of this year's deer will be Jerkey.
Keep the straps & good steaks, but jerk the rest.

UPDATE: For lunch today, did a little different with the backstraps. In a frying pan with a little butter and olive oil. Added some italian herbs and spices. Melted some mozzarella cheese on medium-rare tenderloins and then covered with spaghetti sauce. Should have done it over a bed of pasta but it was still delicious. Sat down with a cold Pepsi and watched the second Incomplete Deer Hunter video. It still doesn't get much better than that....other than wishing the stinking wind would die down. I'm afraid with my weight, the weight of the tree stand and the amount of wind, I could quickly become Mary Poppins.

I like the ground deer, a 50/50 mix with sausage make a great hamburger.

I can't wait to get some fresh backstraps. I'm fresh out right now. BTW Finding a package of straps that you missed late in the winter is like finding money in the freezer.
