We went to the Deer & Turkey Expo last night (Friday). Was there when the doors opened and left about 8:00 pm.
Seems like it gets weaker and weaker every year, probably the booth cost. I know I just did a booth at the Home Show and spent about $2000.00 just on rental.
If your going to the show this weekend, look up Brandon Butler, he is giving a seminar on Youth Huntin, he has a petition going to expand the youth deer season to include buck deer, not an extra buck deer, just allow the youth to shoot a buck if they so choose.
Some of you may find his seminar interesting but I think I already knew most of the facts he discussed.
The wall of legends was very impressive, however remember all of those bucks were not killed in one year, many of them were killed pre OBR.

Went last night as well. The wall was awe inspiring! Thanks to anyone who may have contributed to it!
Did anyone catch the KY DNR booth with the poached Bull Elk? Cannot recall the score but believe it was in the neighborhood of 400 inches, it was impressive.

Wow,went this Saturday AM,so crowded you could hardly move.Could not get to some of the stuff I would like to see. pretty much same old stuff. Wife and I Paid twenty dollars to get in then twenty four dollars for two sandwiches and two drinks. Glad not a bunch of kids to feed.I think they really need more room to spread out the aisles.

I never saw so many people crammed into a show as I did this morning. I got to look at nothing on the deer expo side, just way to many people. Looked like a record attendance for today. From what I could tell I didn't see any available booth space.

Sorry we missed you HH and Hawkeye. Dad and I were there, and yes, it was *PACKED*. It was still packed when we came back through there this afternoon after a visit to Tackle Town. TT was bad, but it was a LOT better than the Expo. It was nice to finally put some faces with names on here. Matt, if you see this, my kids were blowing the duck calls within 10 minutes of me getting home! ;D

Camby, we were there when it opened Fri also, and stayed until about nine as well.
I hadn't been for five or six years. Saw several old friends, enjoyed everything except the racket from the goose calls. The first five minutes or so of that was OK, the rest was nerve-racking.
The sausage sandwiches seemed sort of bland compared to the ones I remembered, but were still pretty good.
The boat area seemed mostly empty of lookers on Friday. Crowd in the Deer and Turkey area seemed pretty good on Friday. Sounds like that's still the best time to go.
Met BSU Travis at the waterfowler association booth.
Wanted to meet Brandon Butler but missed him, probably while trying to connect with a shooting buddy. We kept calling each other and trying to describe our locations, and somehow it took us most of an hour to get in the same place at the same time. Lesson learned, next time first stop will be the place where they were handing out the maps of the place.
Overall, had a good time. Might come back next year. Will bring ear plugs if I do, just in case.

It was great to meet you Russ and danf! Yes, the Expo definately needs to expand so there is more room to actually spend time with the vendors!!!!!!
I'll be back in the Delta Waterfowl booth today, so if anyone is @ the Expo be sure to stop by and say hello!

7 hour roundtrip to be elbow to elbow with thousands of people?
I don't care for crowds. They are not for me.

I took my mount up Friday morning to be in the display. I tooke the family up for most of the day Saturday got there about 11 and the girls watched the dog shows. The crowd int the deer and turkey expo was nuts thru midday so we roamed the boats and RVs which wasn't too crowded. Tackle town was also crowded but not as bad as the deer and turkey. We watched the Youth hunting seminar which was pretty good but they need a better area for the seminars, the speakers were competing with the duck and goose calling on one end and the 3D shoot on the other. We then took a break and left for dinner about 5 pm. We went back and found if you really want to look at the deer and turkey booths the time to do it is between 6 and 9 on saturday the crowd was much smaller and you could actually walk down the aisles without bumping into someone. I found the last time I was up if you want to pick up on deals show up late sunday most dealers will cut a deal to keep from loading product back on the truck. I got there too late this year and there were all loaded up.

The wall of legends was very impressive, however remember all of those bucks were not killed in one year, many of them were killed pre OBR. Wrong...the Hoosier Hall of Fame was in fact made up of deer that qualified in the past three years

If they were from the last 3 years, I really feel bad for some people. I saw mounts up there that looked 15 years old and terrible.

Wrong...the Hoosier Hall of Fame was in fact made up of deer that qualified in the past three years Wouldn't that mean that they had been scored in the the last 3 years? Just because a deer has been scored in the last three years doesn't mean it was shot in the last 4....
