That rifle likely would have failed with a 3 pellet load as well? What kind of pressue does 3 pellets put out, if anyone knows.

That rifle likely would have failed with a 3 pellet load as well? What kind of pressue does 3 pellets put out, if anyone knows. According to an article written by Randy Wakeman, 150grains pushing a 260gr bullet would develop over 20,000psi.

I don't understand what the CO was getting at when he said he was lucky he didn't see a deer. I would think 80 grain or more smokeless poweder behind a 54 cal would make a very flat shooting gun. I wonder how fast his round was going.

it is not safe to load a CVA or traditions with more than 70 grains of black powder or black powder substitute.......these ML have exploded before...all you guys whoi shoot them please dont get in an uproar about you have done this for years,etc.......not all firestone tires blew and not all pintos blew up either but enough dids to cause serious safety concerns...
