My boss has a few pet deer; thought you might like to see an up-close picture of what Simon looks like when he sheds his velvet. This is about 4-5 days prior to shedding, the velvet got really "wooly" at this point: Simon was shedding last Tuesday (9/12), but it was taking him a while to get the last of it off. After he sheds, the velvet gets eaten.

Simon is around 10 1/2 or 11 1/2. He's OLD. Junior (one of his offspring) is either 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 this year, but I haven't seen him since this spring.
Simon's gonna get *mean* here in a few weeks. They might be captive, but they still go through the things Ma Nature intended!

My boss has a few pet deer;
My question is why would anybody want to have a "pet" deer? I think these animals should be left to run wild as they're meant to be UNLESS it's hurt in one way or another.....
