Ok-there is a certain other thread in the deer hunting forum about a certain deer hunting regulation that has everyone here and really, everywhere all worked up, hackles up, ears flat back, and showing teeth. It`s a very emotional issue, as the heated debate clearly shows, and in many ways, it`s healthy to have hard, spirited debate.
However, it`s also healthy to put away the divisive issues from time to time, step back, take a DEEP breath, turn around and shake hands with your neighbors here at Hunting Indiana, and remember the things that actually bring us together, and make us more alike than different. So, in that spirit, I ask that we call a temporary truce on the “other” issue, and we gather here to talk about the VERY upcoming deer season. Everybody buy into this? That means absolutely NO references to that divisive issue in here, we`re ONLY allowed to talk about the things that bring us together and make us the same. In fact, this may be the thread that we have “time out” at if we get too carried away with the other stuff.
So how do we start? Remember, take a very DEEP breath, and tell us what you love about deer hunting. A best hunting trip or memory? A special buddy you shared a hunt or a season with? A hunt you remember especially warmly that you were all alone? The neatest sights and sounds you`ve ever experienced while deer hunting? Make it about anything at all to do with deer hunting, but it must be positive. NO discussions about regulations, deer management, or anything that could even be construed as divisive. Maybe about your preparations for opening day, or the first stand you`ll hunt this season. As corny as this will sound, let`s talk about, and enjoy what makes us all close and similar. We`re all natural born predators, and we, unlike most of the country, embrace that, and celebrate that-so let`s celebrate it together.
Who want`s to be first?
