Master Sergeant Greg Wilson arrived home today from Germany. with his family. Greg just competed a tour of duty in Iraq. Greg is a recipient of the Bronze Star. They will be here for two weeks and then back to Germany. Greg has a year left to get his 20 and could go back to Iraq. Greg’s wife is the daughter of some good friends of ours and we all met them at the Evansville airport. A real hero’s welcome home. On hand was the Patriot Guard… “Rolling Thunder”… The Patriot Guard welcoming line.. Friends and family await the arrival of the Wilsons…. The Wilson family arrives… Greg with mom and dad Wilson…. The Wilson family…. Greg thanks the Patriot Guard…. All three Evansville TV stations were there. Greg and his family rode in a stretch limo with a police and Patriot Guard escort. Family and friends made up the “convoy” as we proceeded through parts of Evansville. People pulled over as we came by to honor this young soldier. I didn’t get a picture of it, but two fire ladder tucks bridged across 4 lanes of highway with a giant American flag between the two ladders. IMPRESSIVE!!BTW – his brother in law is a volunteer fireman and EMT in Warrick county. The “convoy” made its way to the Knight Township fire station where the limo was traded for a fire truck. The rest of the route through Newburgh was by fire truck Along the fire truck route.. The fire truck ride… The fire truck ride… My wife and myself will make it a point to welcome home every soldier that we can from now on. That is the very least we can do…..

Glad he made it home OK. There's been a few that I knew that didn't.
Sounds like he got a much-deserved royal treatment!

Glad to hear he made it back; my nephew is coming back home for 5 days in a few weeks then he starts his tour of duty in a chopper. I hate to see him go over there, but that 's the breaks when you volunteer.

Do you mean a tri-pod for us media ignorant? All three had tri-pods that they used on occasions. What got me is the camera people did their own interviewing. No 'reporters" involved. Cost cutting?

You are correct Woody......sticks = tripod
It's all style I suppose, in a situation like that where you are going to have a lot of things going on, I don't fool with sticks so that I can be easily mobile. Negative on the cost cutting with the lack of reporters, all photogs do a lot of interviewing as well. Generally speaking a reporter turns one story per day......2 if they have breaking news or are being slammed. The rest of the daily news is gathered by the shooters, and that included gathering the sound that will be used in the newscast. Typically those types of pieces are known as VO/SOT's... the VO being the video and the SOT being the sound on tape. Doing the interview is one of the cool parts of the job!
