...chances are you had an NES...and put it to good use regularly! ;D But because my little brother always wanted to use it, and I didn't want to get into a fight with him (ha ha) to get my turn, I always watched him play NES games rather than playing them myself. I was messing around on YouTube yesterday and learned about the concept of "speed runs"...playing NES games through to the end as quickly as possible. I didn't think some of what was done was even possible--but apparently it is! A few of my favorites are: The Legend of Zelda in less than 35 minutes www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA8do9C7180Super Mario Brothers in 5 minutes www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8LbrAYVrEwSuper Mario 2 in 7 minutes 53 seconds www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQr16RinbG0Super Mario 3 in less than 11 minutes www.youtube.com/watch?v=J31klTM6q78Who Framed Roger Rabbit in approximately 7 minutes www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypExqKPAYAkEnjoy! (And yes, I know these people had too much time on their hands...)

I could have cared less about that crap and will not let my kids set in front of it either.

Dum dum dum dum dum-dum-dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum-dum... One of my favorite NES childhood memories was "duck hunt"...the two neighbor boys my brother and I grew up with (one of which hunted avidly and still does!) had a NES before we did (this was in 88-89) and we used to go over to their place to play. Our favorite way to play was with the barrel of the gun 1" or less from the TV screen--needless to say, we rarely missed a bird!!

I fortunately missed the video game craze. NES didn't catch on big until I was around 20 or so. I'm sure if I'd been a teenager I'd have been bit by the bug. I remember the neighbor kid (about 8 or 9 at the time) stopping and talking to me one day when I was probably 20. He asked me if I wanted to come over and play baseball on his Nintendo. I looked at him and honestly said "when I was your age, we played baseball with a real bat and ball". Something my grandfather would have said.
