If your talking about the IGA in Nashville, I'm surprised they aint asking $80.00 a pound. Thats one of the highest priced grocery stores I have ever shopped, they kind of have the grocery market all to themselves.

They kind of have a monopoly in the area--you either have to go to Columbus or Bloomington for more than one reasonably sized grocery store! The Marsh in Center Grove at 135 and Stones Crossing was selling them for $45 a pound a month or so ago...demand is high, I guess!

You can get portabellas for $2-$3 per pound, and those baby's are mighty tasty. Morels are good .... but they aint $40 per pound good. I'd rather take that $40 and buy some $10 per pound steaks.

I used to work with a not so bright girl, who bought 2 pounds at $30 a pound, just because she wanted to taste them, but didn't like bugs! That is definately a case of more money than brains!!

I have found almost zilch, but will do without before I buy them at that price. I pay $10 a lb for HUGE crablegs that usually go for $20, just because my sweety loves them, and that is 2-3 times a year. Now, the $75-100 per lb. effective cost this years turkey took to HARVEST is beside the point . . . . .

Actually, the little women gets out of there pretty cheaply by watching their flyers and using coupons.

Several years ago, a friend of mine and I sat down to figure out what our cost was per pound of venison came to. Rough figures mind you, but when the tally hit $10.00 per pound we quit and changed the subject. But that is a different story again.

Well, two trips to TH and back, and all the driving back and forth to the field, plus eating out a few times . . . All adds up. Plus clothing, equipment, license fees(if you do NOT have a LL). . . hunting is not a cheap sport.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ cha-CHING! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
