Most of us older outdoors persons (ladies included) that live in Sullivan and Vigo county have probably talked with Chuck Shannon a time or two. Although Chuck was a Horses but most of the time he was and is also a pretty nice guy. As far as being a CO went yeah if he thought that you were a wrong doer he would hound you until he was convinced of your innocence. Then there were times when someone had done something stupid but not intentionally he would give them hell and go on. Call him a rabbit ranger or possum cop and he would act mad, then run into him out of uniform and he would joke about it. Saying he had to look po'd because he was expected to but heck law abideing hunters paid his wages. Anyway to get to the point after all of that Chuck has been having some trouble with his legs lately according to what I heard today and is now in the hospital awaiting a biopsy to find out if a growth on his spine is malignant or not. So Chuck can use your prayers.

Thanks to you that have reply-ed and those that have not. Last I heard they are trying to find someone to take the biopsy here in T.H.. They may try to transfer him to Indy if they can not find someone here, seems as though it is wrapped around his spinal column in such a manner that even the slightest over cut could leave him paralyzed even if they can kill it if it is malignant and not benign.

I know that situations like these can lead to awful, heartwrenching decisions for patients and families to make. I hope that Chuck and his family can come to the best decision to maximize his health and quality of life.

As much as I dislike the Chicago Area, it sounds like he really needs to be up here at Rush, or at a Mayo clinic... Too bad he's not a kid and could go to Riley's.

They transferred him to Indy early Friday. Guess the did a complete body scan MRI after he got there and found that not only was there the one at the base of his spine there is also a place close to where or at where the neck joins the spine. Looks like this is going to be a really bad time for them. Damn and I was just talking to him a couple of weeks ago and he was saying the the skin thing that he had on his face was cleared up. Yeah O I he could really use Mayo or that one in Texas really bad. When I think back and think of all of the times that I razed him or Presnell about being CO's. But they were sure head and shoulders above the two we now have for Sullivan and Vigo. At least with them you knew you could count on them if you ran into something that should not have been.
