WOW!!! We just successfully completed the largest Camporee our council has ever seen!! ;D We had 558 Scouts attend the three day event. Somewhere over 650 with the day visitors of Cub Scouts and adult leaders. We did two solid days of Orienteering, and we didn't even misplace any of them!!! The boys did a Circle course, a line course, Dead Reckoning over 250 meters, a pace count course, score orienteering, and a night dead reckoning course with multiple points to get to the end. My Son's team picked the toughest course and missed their first point by less than 50 meters, but redid it three times to get it right. They got point two off by about 20 meters, but got called in because of time before they could get their last point. He made it back to camp at 1:15. The guys were wore out, tore up, and all smiles!! The two Patrols from my troop got 9th and 11th in the score orienteering out of 59 patrols. The oldest boy was 16 and seven of the eleven are 12. Both Patrols did the entire course without adult oversight. They were two, of the less than ten patrols, that did the course without an adult and they were the youngest. They really made us Leaders proud of the effort and determination they put forth. This was a fantastic weekend and a great use of time.
