An Indiana Attorney General’s Office employee was killed Saturday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a deer on I-69. Isaac Broadie Jr., 43, was traveling with another motorcyclist, Michael Leavell, 39, at 9:30 p.m. when the two approached a deer standing in the road near the Lapel exit in Madison County. Broadie struck the deer and was thrown from his Honda motorcycle. The Indianapolis man was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Leavell, also of Indianapolis, avoided hitting the deer by forcing his motorcycle into a slide and was taken to St. John’s Health System in Anderson for minor injuries. “This is kind of a rare event,” Indiana State Police Detective Robert May said. “This is the first motorcycle collision with a deer I’ve ever heard of.” Both men were wearing helmets. Broadie was an investigator at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office for about 10 years. “We send our condolences to the family and we’re saddened to hear of his passing and we’ll certainly provide our support in any way we can,” Attorney General Office spokeswoman Staci Schneider said. www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070429/LOCAL/70429003
