Saw in the DNR booklet that Flod has 8 bonus deer availiable. Are there really that many deer down there? Is it worth a road trip? My family has a farm there. A couple of relatives hunt it,, and it is a 5 hr drive for me. I am thinking of hualing a camper and spend the second weekend of deer season there. I have too nice of a deer spot up here to chance a road trip during the opening weekend. Figured I'd get my Steben 2, and maybe my buck if needed- then head south. My family farm is just outside of Georgetown. I am also somewhat concerned with sneak ins... as this would be the first time I've pursued deer down south.

I used to live in New Albany , yes , they have enough deer to rate being a reduction county . I used to hunt near Greenville , there's a ton there . Nextdoor Harrison Co. has the same limit , try the Harrison-Crawford State Forest on In. 62 just west of Corydon .

I live in New Albany and we are starting to see deer in town, to me that is a sure sign that there needs to be some reduction. A place to hunt is another issue which you seem to have a handle on.
I'd bet you would not regret it especially if meat hunting.

Considering the volume of roadkilled deer I see just at the bottom of the hill near New Albany it surprises me that they haven't added NA to the UDZs . Nearly all the land in Floyd Co. is private and heavily urbanized , so what little public ground there is there just won't be enough .

Wow Hotshot! I don't know. Tough call since you live in Steuben. Obviously a lot of deer up there, but I'll tell you what. There is nothing like going on a hunting roadie especially if you have a couple buddies to go with you. I have found I can concentrate a lot more when I go on a trip solely to hunt. I might be at a different place in life than you though. I have young kids at home.
