What exactly is the best way to get your voice heard by the IDNR?

I would think it would be better to spend the time and effort to determine what is actually happening with the deer herd and why, instead of spending the time and effort to determine what the majority thinks is happening with the deer herd.

Why are so many hunters upset with the obr just on the simple fact that its "pushed" onto them. Aren't all regulations "pushed" onto us? If you don't like to be told on how to hunt, why buy tags and follow the regulations? Just do whatever it is that you want to do,,,,cause you already KNOW BETTER!

Because this wasn't "pushed onto" us by the DNR for biological reasons which we could accept, it was instead pushed onto us by a group of wannbe trophy hunters

Just so I have this straight....you're accusing this administration of instituting something that is against sound biological science for our deer herd? In essence, you're saying that the administration is doing something negative to our deer herd?

Hoyt1166 if this is the fifth year of this then it was not this administration.
Thats kind of like accusing Bush of destroying New Orleans with a hurricane named Katrina. My opinion there is simply in state pork hurt NO as much as lack of state aid in evacuation.

In essence, you're saying that the administration is doing something negative to our deer herd? Nope, I'm saying it had zero effect, neither good nor bad, on the deer herd itself and that it was not the idea of the DNR but was only instituted because the IBA and IDHA whined incessantly about it. It has been said numerous times by our Deer biologist himself that this was not the DNR's idea, how hard is that to understand or accept?

What is so dumb about telling the truth about why we are stuck with such an idiotic rule? I think the dumb thing is whining to the state when you can't kill the type of bucks you want.

Aren't the people who couldn't kill anything bigger than a basket rack, the ones who wanted the state to grow big bucks for them in the first place?

Greghopper, how about this. You post pics of your last 4 bucks and show everyone that you do kill big deer and they have gotten bigger every year since the OBR. That will show it works. I'm betting you wont.

ridiculous. It wasnt about growing bucks. I take offense to that comment. I didnt kill a lot of baskets heck i only killed one and it was my first deer ever. I passed a ton of deer up i mean a bunch over the time period before the OBR. I still pass up bucks today. I didnt want the state to grow bigger deer for me... thats just plain ignorant and ridiculous to make an accusation like that. I wanted to see the state limit the number of bucks that got smoked down each year. If the obr did anything in its reign it made hunters aware that you cant hunt big deer and kill every little one you see. That in turn translated into more hunters passing deer and more hunters passing deer means that more deer were being carried over to the next season. That much bigger and that much smarter. I didnt want the state to grow big bucks so I could shoot them each year. I wanted to have the chance to see a big deer once in a blue moon.
