The Animals Voice Braveheart
A Damning Indictment Against Bow HuntingBraveheart is the unfortunate yet highly destined deer whom fate had chosen to stand forever in damning indictment against bow hunting - hunting at its cruelest. Statistics gathered since the 1970s from various states have shown that on average, the wounding/killing ratio is about 55/45. In other words, for every 100 deer killed by arrows, another 120 would wander the woods with one or more arrows imbedded in non-vital part of their bodies, for days, weeks, even months. Bow hunters could argue that the data is old, but are the bow-hunters of today better shots than those 30 years ago? Could they out-shoot Robin Hood? Would they dare to shoot apples placed on the heads of their sons, as William Tell did his own? www.all-creatures.org/hope/DOE/4%20-%20The%20Unforgivable%20Case%20of%20Braveheart.htm

Sob... sob... sniffle... So why didn't those callous turds tranq that dear deer and save it? ? If they could get pics, they could have had DNR or some trained biologist either save the deer or put it out of its misery. But NO, they had to glory in watching it starve/abscess to death. They are FAR more cruel than the hunter who missed. And as a matter of fact - even though I just picked up a bow again for the first time in 20 YEARS I'm more accurate now than I was then. Pin sights, Peeps, releases... crap, it's got to be hard work to not be able to hit the killzone if the target is in appropriate range. These bunny huggers need to get a life. I take that back - these cretins are dangerous. "DOE" is a for -profit group that advocates "deer management" through "contraception" and the "reintroduction of predators". Um... I wonder if they have ever seen a wolf or 'yote tear up a deer or fawn. So much for "cruelty". They need a few email bombs. - DeerOptions@yahoo.com

I note that in February--two full months after he was shot--- "braveheart" is still well muscled and apparently on the mend. Even in the march photo, the deer looks like he's shedding his coat more than anything.
There is no proof from these pics that the arrow killed the deer. The emaciated state of the deer suggests disease. I believe an infection would have killed the deer without waiting 11 months.

What a stupid thing to put in print. I agree, William Tell was a crossbowman.
