That velvet is off for sure by now. My boss has pet deer and the velvet is off in a matter of hours....
Great looking buck, BTW.

If i were to kill a deer in Velvet, would it be possible to have him mounted like that? If not i think i might wait a little longer before i start huntin.

Yes it is very possible lug.......the velvet must be preserved by your taxidermist (or do it yourself). If you are lucky enough, don't damage the velvet when dragging it out, if all possible get the deer onto an ATV or something so you don't have to hold the antlers or damage the velvet while transporting it.......and get it to the taxidermist asap!!!

My taxidermist freeze dries the rack. It is very dfficult to gte one out of tehwoods without damaging the velvet. I killed a mulie in vlevet years ago and he buggered up his rack when he fell. I ended up stripping all the velvet and stained the rack as it was white as snow. Actually white as bone. .

You are very right Woody...... Freeze drying is probably the preferred way, but there are several "Antler in velvet" tanning agents available. The process involves injecting the solutions into the velvet as well as soaking in the solution. If money wasn't an issue, I would certainly recommend freeze drying.
