My family and I have killed 15 squirrels this season. Only 2 have been this year's squirrels. All the rest have been older, some much older. Also only 3 have been females. We are hunting reservoir property. Could the past terrible flooding have something to do with this? We are not seeing anything close to the numbers pre flood. Down cycle or drowned?

Score 2 for team 3, the squirrel squad. They were real slow on the Salamonie this morning.

My application was marked unsuccessful due to not having a valid birthday on the form. I put 03/31/1947. I thought that was the proper way to write it So what do you do to PROPERLY write in your birthday? Who do I contact from the DNR to find out?

Please sign me up with the Squirrel Squad again. The spirit gun is itching to prowl the woods again.

I have been pretty much hunting public ground. I am trying to find several spots to hunt. I want to be able to move from one spot to another when competition shows up. Am approaching this like deer hunting. Don't always find them in the same spots. Lots of ground out there to cover.

When using a higher powered scope in the field, I have already shot the deer before I have turned up the scope. Usually have the power set on 3 or 4. My longest shot has been 275 yards on 3 power. I use the higher powers for sighting in and load testing.

Found a little niche spot with 3 den trees and sign of massive amounts of squirrel gnawed walnuts littered around two of them. Should be good for a few squirrels when the season opens. No nests.

Anybody else scout for squirrels? When I am in the woods I am constantly making note of any sign squirrels have left. I also am keeping track of den trees, mast trees, last year's nests and of course squirrel sightings. Got in the habit when riding the school bus along side woods. I would ride my bike over on weekends and collect the squirrels I had seen.

Does the 3 inch length limit refer to the empty brass case or the loaded cartridge?
