featherduster, your ignorance astounds me! ;D I am a natural born killer I won't get into a ping pong match with you. I was allways taught , if you can't say something nice about somebody, then don't say it at all. I have been hunting for 29 years, been brought the right way, so please don't bash my thread. If you do not like what someone posts on here, then do not reply and show everyone how non-intelligant you are. Add your daily totals up for the day and through in your cripples that sailed away, and the ones you did not find in that day, bet your ratio is up there pal. Read up on the snow goose populations, how they are destroying the tundra up in the breeding grounds, how they wipe out farmers fields in a matter of a couple of days, how they find hundreds of snow geese dead in a field because of disease, they need to be controlled, when the Feds feel the numbers are getting in control, they will change the seasons. It is not like when they had punt guns, and market hunters and no control over the limits of daily number of birds that were harvested.

I guess not everyone is an Anne Oakley! ;D ;D If you have ever did a sneak job on snow geese in a flock that size, you are going to have cripples like that, at least everyone I know that hunts snow geese like that does. We were not decoying them, and when you jump 3000-5000 geese at one time, you will have cripples. And unless you can outrun a turkey in mud, they are going to get away, even with a dog. And yes I support all of the above, what does that have to do with not getting all of the cripples, when you try and find them, they are long gone. I am just not a perfect shooter I guess like some people are. ;D We did make the attempt to retreive all the birds we shot and knocked down. Have you ever lost a cripple?

Well, my weekend started off bad. I left without my camera, video camera, and all of my pain pills and muscle relaxers for my back. The drive,6 hrs. sucked for my back. But I made it, we jumped about 3000 snows in a field Sat. afternoon, dropped 37 birds, 6 of them out ran us, man those birds can run, and when it is muddy, you don't stand a chance. This morning, we hunted a field that was holding around 40000 birds, man that was some fun shooting, we ended up with 48 birds and at least a dozen ran off, good food for the coyotes. I went and bought a disposible camera, took some pictures, ,hope the rain does not ruin the camera so I can try and post some pics. Will hunt this afternoon, and in the morning, then hed home. Birds are really starting to bunch up down here. Will keep you posted.

I think the date should be later on , of course, it does not matter with the people down here in the southern part of the south zone. The fact that season ends on a Thursday, that really stinks also, we should at least get to hunt untill Sunday, lets see here, instead of a 9 day early season, we could have a 6 day, and then finish the last part of the season on a weekend, when the birds are here! But , the state people do not want to hear or do anything for the hunters down in southern part of the state. same on stuff every year. Oh well, maybe some day we can get someone that will do what is in the best interest of the whole state, and not just from that magical line that divides the state and goes north. Now, that is just my opinion, so no bashing, all we kill in that early season, is resident birds, and when you do not have several dnr areas to public hunt, then the birds get shot out fast. Plus we do not get a late goose season. HMMMMMMMM!!!!!! That is wacked out also. Sounds fishy to me. Good day to all, and hope you all had a good season. ;D

Nope, I have a good friend that has a lease up there, the guys he leases with have 800 acres along the wabash, and the water is out there. Said there were probably 5000-6000 on the waters up along the river out in the fields. They have limited out on mallards today. I know that down here all of our ducks took off, and they did not go further south, they went north. Good time to go scout that area out if you can.

Well, finally got out and had my first duck hunt of the season, and went with my oldest son , Hunter who is 12 years old, went with my brother and his son. Not much flying down here , hunted the wabash river and my son had a shot at 2 divers that came threw the decoys, he missed, but he was the only one to fire a shot . Nice to be able to get out and hunt, very sore today though, takin it easy and takin some pain pills to help out. Hopefully we will get some birds down here if you guys up North don't shoot them all. I really would like to take my son Hunter on a good goose hunt, I want him to see the big boys come in. I may have to see about some of the guys up North to what they charge for a good , in your face goose hunt, not just for me, but for my son. Good luck to all. Brian

Well, ARK. has been dry also, they just picked up some rain last weekend. I hunt down there a lot, and I will say, you want to stay away from the big name WMA's. I go to the Dave Donaldson WMA up in NE ARK., they have flooded timber hunting. Pick where you might want to go, and contact the WMA property manager, they can really help you out., There is a $10.00 a day fee to hunt the WMA's, or you can buy a season ticket. But they can send you some maps of the area, and maybe point you in the right direction. You can only hunt untill 1:00, so you may try and line something out for the afternoon, there are several farmers that will rent you a field for the day, not bad, but you may need to watch their fields to see if the birds are working, and if they have any water. Stay away from anything painted pink, that means no hunting , they do not post it, just paint things pink down there. I hunted by Bald Knob, and Peach Orchard, had some really good duck hunts. I prefer to go in between Christmas and new year, but there are plenty of guys who head down there around that time also, GOOD LUCK
