Squirrel story! When I was a kid there was a woods just north of us. It had a big hickory on a little ridge on the south end and a gully north and a big maple on that side of the gully. There was one limb of the maple that was 7-8 feet off the ground and every squirrel in the woods would use that limb! They all stopped at the exact same spot, just before jumping into the hickory. Many, many mornings I had killed my limit and went to pick them up and you could touch all five with one hand!
It's sad that there are so many people on the rock anymore! Wade

That gun should be chambered in 2 7/16 if I recall correctly. I shoot an old Stevens with the short chamber. It is not recommended unless you are shooting paper shells I understand but I shoot low brass field loads without a problem. It will out kick anything out there when you shrink the barrel diameter with the cone of plastic but it's an extremely tight group. I don't do contests but enjoy squirrel hunting. Went out at 8 am opening day.knocked down 3 greys on a small hickory.Only noise or movement in the woods. Way too warm for them to be hungry.Left the woods at 9:30.They were done. Wade

Relax dude! If anyone gets offended over that you just have to figure they are one of the millions that have made it their life's goal to search the world over for more and new ways to get offended! I know this encompasses multiple generations in this day and age but you also know if they want to get offended your E-name has already done that! Wade

I'm 25 miles north of the Ohio River in Ripley county. I strawed my potatoes and the wind picked up and blew some of the straw away after dark. This morning I found those that were uncovered were black! I don't know it they will come back after a heavy frost like that or not! We'll see! Wade

Dale here is the info from the Perdue 2016 vegetable guide on harvesting.
Harvesting Harvest only 2 or 3 times in spring 1 year after transplanting. Thereafter, harvest for about 2 months in the spring. Harvest asparagus early in the morning for best quality. Allow the ferns to grow vigorously after this period to accumulate food reserves for the next season. As much care should be put into maintaining a healthy fern as into harvest.
FYI, salt does work but, if you live in deer country it's just a matter of time before they find it and dig out your plants trying to get to the salt in the soil. Now to control weed we pick then move over it.We do this until 1 June when we stop picking and go to mowing around it instead of over it. We really do need to be thankful for what we have. And, we need to fight any attempt to diminish it in any way.Did you realize that Austrailia has clamped down on guns in their country? This is but a part of a communication with a friend in Austrailia. After reading it ,you will understand what an awful weapon of destruction he is trying to purchase! G'day All, I have just, after waiting an eternity, completed & Passed the Mandatory & very expensive ($300 ) ! full day, firearms Education course to get my firearms license. It cost over $150 to apply to get the bloody thing in the first place, & on top of that now, I have to wait a maximum further 28 days to receive notification to collect my license, & only then when I have a shooters license number , May I then apply for a permit to buy an air rifle or weapon covered by that category of license Then its another $25 bucks for that privilege. This permit is for one rifle only & if I want to buy two I must buy another $25 permit for each & every firearm.Once the permit to purchase is issued the Police firearms division is notified & come out to inspect your storage safe to ensure compliance. You must then search out & see a local gun dealer to buy the weapon of choice ( which is fairly restricted) & pay for the gun & the dealers charges to fill in the paper work to notify the government of the guns registration number & transfer of ownership into your name Etc . If you wish to purchase a Gun, privately, it has to be done through a registered gun dealer as it is illegal to purchase outside the system with all the associated extra charges to sell & purchase under this system. To my American Fellow members, Please Do not loose your right to bare arms as we here in Australia "potentially" have by exorbitant costs & restrictions . The only people penalized are the law abiding ones ,& this has been proven last week in Melbourne when A Greek Nut who should have been behind bars, was let out on parole by an idiot Magistrate. His car was then used to murder Citizens & their baby's in the street just minding their own business, by running them down .This was compl s never reoffend ed as effectively as Martin Bryant, did here in Tasmania at the Port Arthur.historic site..30 odd Aussies & Friends My suggestion to try ie execute the offenders\\the never REoffend Regards Pete, then-saga continues HE IS TRYING TO BUY AN ADULT AIR RIFLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! The name Mills kind of rings a bell with me. A few years back I was in Bedford at some guys place that had a gun shop in his garage. He tried to sell me some savage shotguns that had been cut down to 12" and had pistol grips on them. I didn't buy but a few months later I was told the ATF shut him down.I just can't remember his name for sure. Wade

When I was a kid we did out own butchering. Best worm I have ever used was the skin or rind off homemade bacon. Cut it 3-4 inches long and a double hooked spinning rig and catch fish. They would hit it as soon as it hit the water and the scent of brown sugar cure stayed in the water to draw more in. It was so tough you could catch a bucket full on one rind. Wade
