This is a fitting place to ask for this prayer because it is hunting related. My buddies yellow lab has been diagnosed with cancer. He is only about 6 or 7 years old. The cost to treat the cancer is too much for my friend so he is going to keep his companion as comfortable as possible until it comes to a time he will need put down. If you all could find it in your hearts to throw a prayer his way I would appreciate it. My friends name is JD and his dog is Hoosier.
Thanks, Todd Buchanan

I too would be in the morbidly obese range. I am 5'11" and weigh in at 330. I hate my weight but have always struggled with it. I would love to lose it but losing it easy for me. It is the keeping it off that I struggle with the most. I am going to try again and see what happens. I wish you all luck if you decide to lose the weight and hopefully I can do it as well.

Overall I would say the mount is not too bad. The size does not look out of the norm. As far as the skin stapled to the back that is normal as timex mentioned. When a deer is mounted there are certain locations on the forms that match specific hair patterns on the deer cape. If these are not in the proper places then you have issues that do not look correct. I do not care for the ear butts either but I have seen worse. They are just a little fat and the anatomy of them is off a bit. But overall it looks like a decent mount.

It was a good try and I give you kudos for trying a striper as your first fish. They are not the easiest fish to mount. I agree with you though, Van Dykes mounting kits are not a great idea. If you do decide on doing a taxidermy class on fish, I do workshops for fish and birds. Also you might be interested in joining the AIT (Association of Indiana Taxidermists) We have an annual convention and there will be a fish, deer, bird and other seminars as well as the taxidermy competition. Check out AIT on facebook. I try to keep it as updated as possible. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. There really is no other suggestion on a locked mount. You are going to be limited due to the way they are locked and also how much room you will have on the wall to display them. I am sure if you google locked antlers you can find some ideas but they are all going to be pretty much the same. The options are shoulder mount or lifesize mount. Lifesize will be very expensive and take up alot of room in a trophy room. Sounds like it will make a neat mount though no matter what you choose to do.

I thought you were the taxidermist? He is the taxidermist. Unscrupulous tactics to try and lure in unsuspecting customers. It is really a sad way to do business, but happens everyday. Buyer beware is all I can say.

You are going to have to do better than that, there are alot of tall ugly guys there, LOL. I am sure I remember you, I know I would for sure when I see you in person. I am just horrible with names. After I got your friend invite on facebook I figured out who you were as far as your taxidermy business. Take care and keep in touch.

I honestly do not think it is going to change anything as far as the taxidermy goes. People are still going to get there trophy mounted. I remember people worrying about the one buck rule affecting there taxidermy business. the only thing that changed then is I get bigger bucks now.
