It's official; the Madison, Indiana Wal-mart will not be getting any more guns in. Apparently, there are no hunters or shooters in Jefferson County, as that is the corporate rationale for what stores no longer sell guns. If sales are the real reason, it would have helped to have had more variety in the case. The Walmart catalog has a huge variety of guns, including some high end stuff. Madison always had the same old pumps and .22's. I suspect the real reason for ditching guns has to do with their "image makeover." Moving away from a rural mindset to a more trendy, hippy-dippy urban feel.

My local Sporting goods manager told me that only the top 500 stores in gun sales will carry them. All in all it's not that terrible of a thing. I have found better deals at Gander Mountain and GM will take care of any repair issue.

While it saddens me to hear it, it's their decision to make, if they were selling enough guns they'd still be carrying them. I used to get McIlhenny's Tabasco sauce in the garlic flavor at Wally World because it was the only place I could find it, I was buying a bottle about every two weeks, but now they don't carry it. I guess it wasn't earning it's keep either. A product is a product to them, it sells or it's gone.

Get used to it guys. Most of the Walmarts in my area (western Illinois) have already stopped carrying them. In fact I know of 1 that still does but I never go there since there are 3 closer and none of the 3 carry guns.

I guess it's good news for the little gun shops. I guess I just wish it was really about sales. A lot of wierd stuff has been happening inside the company lately. I feel this is part of it.

The best way to purchase a gun is ,if you do not have a license to buy one from a dealer then find somebody that does have a license and you can save a lot of money.......

Crawfordsville quit carrying guns around a year ago. The last time I was in Greencastle Wally, they were still carrying them. C'ville's sporting goods department never was very good, and after they got the new store late last winter, it got even worse.

Yes sir. Probably get in trouble, but they made no secret of the fact that they are no longer going to sell guns. We still have them in the case, but they are slated to get the axe.
B.T.W, There is a strong possibility I have sold H.I. members hunting tags!

The best way to purchase a gun is ,if you do not have a license to buy one from a dealer then find somebody that does have a license and you can save a lot of money....... Carry permit?? Dealers License?? Only time I price buying from dealer and then finding local dealer to have shipped to and fill out paper work it would have ended up costing me about $40 more. As for Wal-Mart I do not think that the new store here carries firearms. Anybody from TH or Brazil go to the new wally and know. I've only been there once and do not remember. Old one is closer and as of right now they still have some rifles and shotguns.

I went into the Indy Walmart on the far east side and was suprised that they no longer sell firearms. I'd asked a clerk there last year and he thought that they would continue to handle them. But, no more! parson

I stopped by the Walmart in Boonville Indiana to pick up some .44 mag cartridges for my new rifle.
I notioced that one gun case was empty and not a whole lot in the other one.
I asked the sports counter lady if they were going to stop selling guns too and she said, " We will quit selling guns in May".
Bummer.
She said it is Walmart wide. No more guns anywhere. She said it might take a few outlets awhile to phase them out , but guns are history for Walmart.
