I'm not sure where i will be. Ive got about 4 or five different places to hunt and it depends on which way the wind is and if we get any rain. If no rain then i will be hunting by a big pond as most creeks are dry here in the north. Usually its warm the first of October so the deer should be looking to water soon after they get up. H.H.

I told my wife to take good notes, and I'd read them when I got home from the woods! ;D ;D That's exactly what I would have said , the only difference is that I would be on my stand in the morning , and I'd still be there that afternoon . The fact that your parents have made other plans doesn't mean that you're obligated to join them . My Mom used to dream about me becoming a Catholic priest , you can just imagine her disappointment ... ;D Kevin does this mean I don't have to call you Father anymore?

Well Guys..
I will be fishing the Kokomo Bass Angler's 2- Day CLASSIC BASS TOURNAMENT opening weekend but the following Monday afternoon... I will be sitting in my Hunter's View treestand along a Cass County creekbottom with my Mathews LX in hand hoping Mr. Big ..(or a HUGE doe) comes by.
I would rather wait until later in the season because I love hunting the Rut and the late archery but with the price of gasoline getting higher... I might cut down on travel and hunt a few areas closer to my home.
Hope every one has a SAFE and SUCCESSFUL hunting season...

Be sure to get a good topo map with the correct boundaries marked. On most typical maps the green areas designated as HNF are actually made up of mostly private lands because the entire possible purchase area is outlined. Most of the forest will not have signs or otherwise be marked, certainly not well marked if it is marked at all. When in doubt, try to find someone familiar with the area to detail the boundaries of the area you choose.

I will be either in my favorite tree in the swamp or on the edge of a fallow field near a crap apple tree. All depends on if my dad comes out.

TurkeyScout, One of these days I am going to meet you in Owen County and take you to my old killer stand. You can walk to it from Larry's cabin.

I will be in my office Sept 15th for the opener. May get out that evening but may just wait if it is real hot unless I have some patterned coming to the beans.

Just took a glance out the back door. Momma and two little ones are feeding in one of my clover patches, about 150 yards off the back deck, as I type this.
Is it hunting season yet ?
