44 years ago today, I sat in my Grandparents living room (my living room now) and watched the USA defeat the Russians. That started my interest in hockey and I still watch whenever I get the chance. Anybody else remember this?

I will never forget it. My whole family was up jumping up and down cheering. I think there were a few tears shed that evening. I was 15 years old. Jim Craig was looking for his dad in the crowd as soon as they won. Non of us understood the game (I still don't) but that didn't matter.

I remember it was huge at the time. It was a group of amateur players against the best of Russia's equivalent of the NHL. I watched some hockey last weekend. As a kid I was a Ft Wayne Komets fan. I swiped my brother's ear bud for his transistor radio and did some creative wiring so I could turn out the light on the old tube radio turn the speaker off. Wonder I did not fry myself. I listened to the Komet games on WOWO and AFAIK Mom and Dad never knew.
