Disclaimer : I realize that there are people here that have dealt with the same problem and not been so lucky , I do realize how lucky I am !
Last week my wife who is 41 years old had a mammogram. She was told by the doctor that she had a mass in her right breast. We tried not to get too worried but it was on the back of my mind all week. Today she had more tests done and we found that it was benign. All week I couldn't help but think about the pain that it would cause me and my children to watch my wife battle cancer, not to mention the pain that my wife would have to endure to fight this disease. Today's news was very relieving and I still can't help but think about all the poor souls that hear bad news instead of good news. We were very lucky today, for those of you that have battled this with their wives or mothers or girlfriends or sisters or daughters my hat is off to you because it is the very last thing that I wanted to deal with and the very last thing that I ever wanted to try to explain to my six-year-old daughter. Life is tough sometimes there's no doubt about that. Thankfully we didn't have to have a tough day today, instead we went to downtown Evansville and watched the first night of the state wrestling finals as a family. I really couldn't feel any more lucky than I am right now!

Give thanks to God that it was benign! Funny how we don’t always count our blessings till we’re faced with something like this. My father in law has always said “what if we only had tomorrow the things we gave thanks for today?”

I am glad to hear the good news. It is always humbling to hear and understand what other folks are going or have gone through.

I'm glad it was good news. I have a very close group of 6 friends. 2 have lost their wives to cancer and a third is battling it right now. It has made me extra cautious with my wife. I'm always on her about getting all her tests and screens done.

We lost Mom a year and a half ago to it. About a 4 or 5 year fight. I'm sorry you lost your brother, no matter which way you lose a loved one it's never easy. I guess that's why this hit me so hard, I didn't want my wife to endure what Mom did.

My wife has survived 2 bouts of breast cancer- the last was in 2019. Thank God, she is cancer free today.
Both of hers were caught in very early stages and successfully treated with surgery & chemo.
I recommend the regular tests. Early detection can make a real difference.
Prayers for all who are dealing with cancer. It's a horrible thing.

Went thru this a little over a year ago. Removed a cancerous tumor from my esophagus. It was actually found by accident while they scoped my stomach for issues I had been having. Praise God and my oncology team for taking care of me. I have to do follow-ups and scans every 4 months. It DOES suck fellas, but there is hope for the future.

Lost my dad two years ago to cancer in his esophagus. My wife had tumors removed from her breast when she was only 24, our son was a toddler. I was scared to death!! Ended up being benign.

Aren't MRI's really expensive? Maybe it's CAT scans that are expensive, one of them is really hard to get my insurance to pay for.

Here is something that I was made aware of last year. I have no personal experience with them but, my Dr. had no issues with them. affordablemri.com/This one is in Indy but, there are probably others around.
