The RV and camper market is in the toilet as far as resale. Buy a used one, there are lots of bargains to be had. Brand doesn't matter so much, they are all pretty cheaply built and you need to be handy, as something is always needing some attention or repair.

When working for INDOT I saw many wrecked on the highway. I always said the main thing holding them together is gravity. Turn one over and they explode. A lot of staples and glue.

I bought a brand new one a couple years ago when we remodeled our home. Hooked it up to utilities in the barn and lived in it for 6-7 months.
Had quite a few problems with brand new one; microwave quit, thermostat had to be replaced, some of the paneling came loose and had to be refastened, the water heater had to be repaired, etc. Wasn't out on the road with it and dealer was pretty decent regarding warranty, but it was problematic none the less. That's just the way campers are.
When we purchased Covid was still going on and campers were at peak price, not many available, etc. We bought brand new because you could only save a couple grand buying a late model used one. By the time we got done with it Covid was behind us and the market was full of used campers. Took a terrible whuppin on the price just to finally get rid of it.
My views on campers are not high. Buy used and shop for a bargain.

Campers and the RV industry as a whole reflect the economy about 6-12 months in advance for some reason. When RV sales tank, the economy seems to follow. Living up next to the RV capital of the world, that seems more apparent here than in other areas of the country.

Have you considered looking into an enclosed trailer and converting it into a camper? I've seen some really nice ones. One was done in a 50's diner theme. From what I've seen, most people don't use all the appliances and options in a camper. If you build one you can customize it to fit your needs.

Yep thought about that. Also thought about buying one of those small shuttle buses and gutting it, then refitting the interior with bunks and simple essentials.

We bought a new Grand Design camper in 2021. It is poorly put together. It gets the job done but for the money we paid for it should have been built better, Every screw in it was loose. I have done a lot of repairs to it that should have been warranty work, but I don't trust my dealer to do the work. All campers are built like this today from what I have seen.

Steiny that was a KZ you bought? No, ours was a Crossroads Zinger. Looks very similarly built to the KZ's, both owned by THOR. A handful of super large outfits control the majority of the RV industry.
