My oldest son just completed his first semester of high school. I realize they take it a little easy on Freshman in the first semester but he made Honor Roll with all A's and one B+ in Honors Biology. I absolutely hated school my grades were never "posted on the refrigerator", I wished I would have finished college and maybe I'm living vicariously through him but gosh dang it I'm proud of him. He seems to absorb the things I got tired of. Hopefully he keeps this up and continues to do this through college. Fingers crossed!

Definitely something to be proud of. Hope he continues that for the rest of his schooling.

You should be proud! Congratulations to him!!! My oldest son graduated last year with Academic and Technical Honors along with being in National Honor Society. He earned 40+ college credit hours during his four years of high school also. He just finished his first semester of college working towards his engineering degree. My other son is a senior in high school right now and is following in the same steps!! My son that is a senior just got accepted to Lineman school yesterday for this Fall’s training!!
These kids can absorb/find so much more information today because of endless places to find it. To say I’m proud of my boys’ is an understatement!!

You should be proud! It’s great to see your kids be successful in life. My son went to lineman’s school in Georgia this past year and actually starts his new job at the end of the month. He enjoyed the school and learned a lot, but he sure got tired of climbing poles for hours on end. It was kinda like basic training for the military to begin with just to see who would stick it out. There’s good money to be made for the ones in that line of work who don’t think college is for them.

Congrats and that is great. I bet you are proud of him. That is awesome. I'm still proud of my 2nd son David per high school and college. Good luck the next 7-8 years of his education. My son David was #11 overall Honor Student when he graduated. He is following his great grandfather, grandfather and father(me) being an Electrical Engineer. He is a fourth generation sparky! He has his masters in EE, and Computer Science and bachelor in math. He is more gifted in both art and math than I was or ever will be.
One thing I didn't like is that I had to drop art in my senior year. The calculus 2 and chemistry filled up the schedule. No way to fit it in. My son had the same issue. He placed 2nd as a worldwide Scholarship Scholastic Art competition when he was 12. 1st in USA. He is a better artist than me and smarter EE than me. So proud of him over the years. He is on his own and contributing to a better world. Nothing more than a father can ask for. Now, he just needs to find the right girlfriend someday.

As I understand and I could be wrong on this, there are basically 2 types of Electrical Engineer. One that is hands on in the field and one that is behind a desk. He has expressed interest in this field however I think he is a desk job typ of kid. My other son who is also doing very well in school would be a type to be in the field.

I was in automation 1st, then process management for two manufacturing companies and now near retirement the last 8 years writing software and very technical support for all of America (south, central and north). I traveled so much that I don't want to travel these days when I was in automation. Today, I work for the largest industrial computer company Today, EE's go into computer software in the gaming world (big), electronic circuitry circuits, automation and software. There seems to be a little push back into the power and radar fields. Radar, magnetic fields and high energy practices.
