In my travels over the years, I would've had a hard time picking. Until recent years I probably would've said it's a choice between St Louis, Cleveland and Boston. I suppose any big city could contend for the title.
However, more recent years draw me to a new conclusion. At least for the better part of one week, America's worst drivers must surely congregate right here in our home state of Indiana!
Where, you ask?
Let me just say that you better have paid your Insurance premium if you plan to head to Parke county for the Covered Bridge Festival!
I've seen people just stop in the middle of a road...to gawk at the leaves. Turn signal? What's that? Move over for that big ole combine coming at me? Why? And on, and on!!!

I think there are lousy drivers in every state in the country and driver impatience and cell phone usage in vehicles has obviously made it worse.

Any place that draws large groups of people from out of the area will have a preponderance of bad drivers. I bet if you look at the license plates of those people, they aren't locals. Semi truck drivers in the left lane in areas where there are lane restrictions supposedly to keep them to the right lanes, people varying their speed by 10+ mph so you constantly have to slow down and speed up, people whizzing by in the left lane when you have the "lane closed ahead merge right" signs, etc., etc. In that instance, I'll be "that" guy that gets in the left lane and stays barely ahead of the guy (usually a semi truck because he knows how to play the game) in the right lane to make merging a whole lot faster and easier.

What a question, I'd have to say California is for sure after driving near all over the country. I'm sure every big city is horrible as already mentioned. But the sheer amount of people and vehicles here is crazy. Merging traffic backs up 10 miles before the merge. People race around traffic on the shoulder, no turn signals and most people are just rude as dirt, flipping you off etc. Takes me 3 hours+ to get to or from work for 90 miles, horrible out here. But most major cities I would say are like that, can't stand it either way....SF Woody

We used to watch the news in the breakroom at 3AM. It seems like this time of year there is always a story about Minnesota traffic being snarled by runoffs and wrecks in the early snows. If you can't drive in the snow and ice in Minn maybe you should not be allowed to drive there. They plow the Lakes up there.

I live in the Region up near the illinois border, and i gotta say its them. We got a lot of transplants and visitors who cross over from crook county to take advantage of cheaper gas and smokes, and let me tell you damn near every time i see someone pull a boneheaded, rude or flatout dangerous move, i'm like "yup! Illinois plates!". Just last week i was cut off by a person on their phone, who passed me on the right IN THE BIKE LANE- it was either slam on my breaks and let them pass or they woulda hit a parked car. Sure enough, illinois plates.

Well I was on the East coast last summer and was in Massachusetts. Now I see why the people in Main call the people from Massachusetts "M s"! They are worse than Chicago drivers.

I'd say the worst drivers are the ones that always end up in front of me.

You get a chance to drive in the tunnel system they have?I worked up there on the Big Dig when it was being built. We shotblasted around 500,000 sqft prior to concrete overlays. Haven’t miss the place at all.😊 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Dig

I have lived all over the country thanks to the Army and driven in most states.... There are horrible traffic areas around major cities and places where people drive aggressively, but for a combination of bad drivers AND crappy roads Colorado is a shiz show. When you add in summers and winter filled with scenery gawking and rv driving tour-ons it is down right maddening.

What Matt Walsh sats ..
I think it's fair to say that Tennessee has the worst drivers. Absolutely no question. Drivers in this state especially love to slam their brakes on the highway in the middle of traffic and then cut across three lanes in order to get off on an exit that they somehow didn't see coming.
Another Tennessee specialty is coming to a complete stop in the merge lane and then entering traffic going 15 miles an hour while all of the other cars are going 70. People will sit in a dead stop on a merge lane with half a mile of runway in front of them, waiting for a break in traffic. It's insane. Never seen anything like this.
I know a lot of you will try to claim the worst driver title for your states, but I’ve driven all over the country. I’ve lived in five different states. I’m telling you, it’s different here. Your bad drivers can’t compete with ours.
