Sorry ahead of time for a long post.
Today has been a special day for myself so far.
Back in February we almost lost my Dad. He had a severe kidney infection that he went septic from. At one point they basically told us in around about way to say our good byes.
He had been on cooling blankets for 3 or 4 hours and still had a temp of 106.
This lead to kidney, liver, and small intestines shutting down. Scary low blood pressures and scary fast heart rate. He knows nothing of the 5 days in ICU that we prayed he would survive. He only remembers the last 2 in ICU and the week following in a regular room.
But the good Lord didn't need him just yet.
So after he was out of the hospital he couldn't walk more than 10 feet or less. (He use to walk 3 miles every day. Rain or shine.)
But he has slowly gotten better. Gotten stronger. We was hoping to could survive and have somewhat of a normal life. And he has surpassed that.
On Labor Day weekend my son took him dove hunting. Draw hunt at Goose Pond. Short walk and he was go happy to hunt again.
Well last night he said he sure would like to go squirrel hunting. So this morning off we went. He took his stool and set under some hickory trees. Man it felt amazing to hunt with Dad again. I was afraid in February it would never happen again. Thank you Lord for granting me another day with Dad.
He is doing amazing and bouncing back as good as a 75 year old can.
He said this morning he was ready for deer season. Or he would be ready. Lol
Dad thanks for the memory and all the memories we have made through the years. Hopefully there is many more to come.
Chasing tree rats was fun this morning. Just like in the old days when I was a kid with Dad.
No worries what size it was. How old it was. Or the score. Just a wonderful day in the woods with my Dad. Glad he is still here with us.
Unfortunately Dad wasn't able to get anything this morning. But he was young again for a short time and excited to be back in the woods. A long ways from what we were facing in Feburary.
Spend as much time as you can with your family and loved ones. Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone.
Thanks Dad. Love ya.
