Primarily, I am looking for a heavy extension ladder with at least a 14 or 15 foot reach. This is strictly for home use. I’m not concerned for my industrial job since that usually entails a scissor lift, harnessing, and such. I need a maximum of 300 pound capacity. Recent searches have led me to consider a decent multi position ladder instead of the conventional extension ladder. Thoughts? Recommendations? Pros and Cons?

Little Giant. Heavy but sturdy and strong. It can be used as an "A" frame type ladder, folded straight to be used as an extension ladder and can be extended in length like an extension ladder or an extendable height "A" frame ladder. Cons is it's a heavy SOB and might need 2 people to put it up.

Buy a contractors grade heavy duty, good quality, heavy capacity ladder and be done with it. Bought my last one at Fastenal.
Don't take chances with lightweight or multi-purpose ladders, they are death traps.

300 LB capacity would be a Type 1A rated ladder. I will second the Little Giant brand for a multi-position ladder. www.littlegiantladders.com/

Most rental places rent different type ladders….maybe rent one to try before buying! Personally I never buy the cheapest ladder.

I have the Werner version of Little Giant. It's built sturdy and meets my needs. It is a bit heavier in weight than Little Giant, but lighter in price. I'd buy another one tomorrow if mine was stolen.

Yep, 4th or 5th vote for little giant. It is a solid ladder, and I hate ladders.
