I guess now that I have lost the spot in southern Indiana, I need to look for one in central Indiana.
As a transplant from Michigan, I’m really not sure where to start.
Is there any “good” public hunting within say 30-45 minutes of Shelbyville?
I’d like to try somewhere other than Hoosier National…it sounds and looks like everyone hunts ther

In the 2007-2008 Indiana Hunting Reg Booklet there is a section listing all the public huniting places in Indiana. You can get this booklet at any Wal-mart, Dicks, or other sporting store. www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/huntguide1/huntarea.htm

It has been said many times on here. Spend some time in the HNF and you can find places that are never hunted, especially during bow season.

there are actually quite a few deer in Shelby County.... It just takes finding a land owner that will let you on their land. I have found that asking the landowner actually works about 50% of the time...
