The survey closes Aug. 31 Dear Indiana hunter, We’ve entered the last two weeks of the 2023 Wild Turkey Brood Survey. Thanks to your help, we have already collected 2,060 of our 3,000 observation goal. Reaching this benchmark helps us wisely manage wild turkey populations for future generations. Each summer, your observations of wild turkey broods (hens with poults) and hens without broods during July and August help estimate Indiana’s annual wild turkey Production Index (PI = poults per adult hen). Annual production is a primary factor influencing wild turkey population trends, harvest levels, and relative hunter success. Better data helps us with better management, benefiting outdoor recreationists and Indiana’s wildlife. You can easily submit your turkey brood sighting, no password required, until Aug. 31. If you have already participated in this survey, we thank you for your help and look forward to your continued support. We hope you see some turkeys soon!
