An individual making that amount of $$$ on the public dime is gong to have a hard time finding much sympathy. With that being said, sacrificing one's family obligations for work is not a healthy habit. I missed both of our daughters' awards program at school a few years ago in an attempt to meet a customer's deadline. I have not forgiven myself for that and never will. Sometimes, you need to be a parent regardless of what your job demands and Marty Pollio let a reporter have it when he said... In the end, Pollio's team will either fix the mess or they will likely be shown the door. And while those who want his head on a stick would love to see him get fired right now, how long would it take a new regime to come in and get the mess fixed?

Yesterday was the first day back for all students. Local news says that the last kid was dropped off at 7:48. Not great, but two hours better than the first try.
There was an interview with a mother that was complaining about the school corporation not having a route to transport her child from downtown to Jeffersontown. For those of you not familiar, Jeffersontown is the eastern border of the county. In perfect conditions and depending on exact locations, it's an average 20 minute car ride. Take the same trip in a school bus at rush hour and an hour ride would not be surprising. This example is part of the overall problem. The corporation lets kids go to whatever school they chose and, in most cases, does provide transportaion. This parent will have to figure it out.

I also heard that there were 3 accidents involving school buses, were any of those the reason for the late drop off times ?

They have weird start and dismissal times there
Start times will be staggered and range from 7:40 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. for elementary, middle and high schools along with early childhood programs based at elementary schools, and the George Unseld and Westport Early Childhood Centers. Dismissal times range from 2:20 to 4:20 p.m.
Cant imagine getting out at 4:20 for some of those kids then going to practice.

It's a mess to be sure, but I do have one question... Why were the students able to be picked up and delivered to school without a major issue, but bringing them home proved to be a mess? Maybe a lot of parents drop their kids off at school in the morning but they ride the bus home after school.

I see three big issues. 1st: kids are a mess. 2nd: parents are a mess 3rd: Bus system tries to accommodate a mess and it's already a mess.

My brother teaches in Kentucky, he said there are a lot of messes. Indiana may be just as bad but his particular area is in pretty rough shape.

True. I have no doubt that the vast majority of students and parents are respectful and behave properly. But, it only takes one bad interaction to offset the collective good. There are reports every year of students assaulting teachers and parents getting on busses and confronting drivers. The local news doesn't do anything to help. They only report the negative and always pick the most unhappy and uneducated people to interview. Since the Breonna Taylor fiasco, there has been a sense that minorities can get away with anything in Louisville. I tend to agree.

Had a mama on Tv last night. They wont even pick up my poor baby in front of his own home. He has to walk a block to the bus stop everyday.
