It's time for the Indiana DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife Turkey Brood Survey! Dear Indiana hunter, We invite you to participate in the 2023 Wild Turkey Brood Survey. Each summer, we compile observations of wild turkey broods (i.e., hens with poults) and hens without broods during July and August to get an estimate of annual wild turkey Production Index (PI = poults per adult hen). Annual production is a primary factor influencing wild turkey population trends, subsequent harvest levels, and relative hunter success. This year, with your help, we aim to collect 3,000 brood observation reports across the state, with a goal of at least 25 observations per county. You can easily submit your turkey brood sighting, no password required. You can share your observations of wild turkey hens with and without poults from July 1 to Aug. 31. If you’re new to turkey brood identification, you can find a brood identification guide on our website. Submit your sighting at.. www.in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/wildlife-resources/animals/wild-turkey/turkey-brood-reporting/?utm_source=gov&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dfwturkbr2021&utm_content=partner2If you previously participated in this survey, we thank you and look forward to your continued support. If you are new and ready to start looking for turkeys, we are grateful for your help and hope you see some turkeys soon. Sincerely, Indiana Division of Fish & Wildlife Stay Connected Manage your preferences or unsubscribe Contact us online Help Call us: 317-234-8440

Yeh, just saw 12 hens. 11 young with one hen crossing the road half mile up the road into the woods than run across to my house.

Man it’s pretty late to be having small poults. Hope at least some of them can make it.
